This 6-hour Texas Hunter Education Course is designed for novice or young hunters, ages 9 years and above. This course covers firearm and hunting safety, hunting ethics, and wildlife conservation core competencies. All materials are provided, and subjects are covered to enable the student to complete the Hunter Education certification process successfully. The course length excludes the time required for registration, breaks, test administration, and certification card distribution.
Texas certification is honored by all 50 states and most countries that require hunter education. You must carry proof of certification or deferral on your person while hunting, along with your license and picture ID. Proof of certification is NOT required to purchase a license.

- Yes, the student is required to achieve a score of 75% or greater to pass the test and receive their certification.

- How long does is take to receive the certification card?
- You will receive a temporary certication card upon completion of this course which permits you to legally hunt with a valid Texas hunting license. The permanent card will be available for downloading and printing from your TPWD account profile.
