Long Range 1 - Precision Rifle Basic is a one-day, 8-hour course that focuses on the fundamentals of precision rifle marksmanship, effects of weather, optics familiarization, and data collection. Live-Fire will take place at our off-site training location (1 hour 20 minute drive from our San Antonio store) on the 1,000-yard range, which includes steel targets set at 100 yard increments, and a covered and shaded concrete firing line. Here, the students will apply the skills learned during instruction in a live-fire application.
This course is designed to establish the practical skills of marksmanship and give the shooter the tools needed to engage targets accurately and consistently at extended ranges. This course will also assist the shooter in establishing a mindset in accordance with safe, efficient, and consistent shooting habits for whatever their purpose may be.
Please fill out our safety waiver prior to arriving.

- What type of optic should I have installed on my rifle?
- Based on the need to see clearly at long range you will need a high magnification optic.
- Ideally at least 15x or higher
- Is there a specific ammunition manufacturer you recommend?
- There are many great ammunition companies, and we have a vast selection of high-quality ammo in stock at Mission Ridge Range and Academy. The most important thing is to consistently shoot the same ammunition, so your results are not affected by a change in grain weight or other factors.
